5 Days to Save Their Store: Emergency Magento 1 ERP Integration

Client: Slovenly Recordings
Industry: Independent record label / vinyl retail
Platform: Magento 1
Integration: Unleashed Software ERP
Timeline: 5 days
Goal: Replace broken ERP connector before operational deadline

The Client

Slovenly Recordings is an independent record label and online store based in Dallastown, Pennsylvania. They sell vinyl records, CDs, and merchandise – specializing in punk, garage rock, and rare reissues that collectors hunt for worldwide. Small team, passionate community, global reach.

Their Magento 1 store is the heartbeat of their business. Dozens of orders are processed through it every day.

The Challenge

Slovenly had been running a critical integration between their Magento 1 store and Unleashed Software – a cloud-based inventory and order management platform they relied on to track stock, sync orders, and manage fulfilment.

Then Unleashed Software announced they were ending support for their Magento 1 connector.

Without the integration, orders would stop syncing. Inventory would go out of control. Fulfilment would break down. For a store shipping vinyl to customers around the world, this wasn’t a minor inconvenience – it was a direct threat to their operations.

The deadline: 5 days.

“Everyone Else Said No”

By the time Slovenly reached out to us, they had already contacted other Magento development teams. The answer was the same everywhere: Magento 1 is outdated, the timeline is impossible, we can’t help.

We said yes.

What We Did

We got to work immediately and built a custom Magento 1 module from scratch over 5 days.

  1. Day 1: Scoped the full integration – Unleashed Software API documentation, existing connector behaviour, business logic that needed to be preserved.
  2. Days 2-4: Developed the module. Direct connection to the Unleashed Software API, bidirectional sync (orders from Magento to Unleashed, inventory updates back to Magento), fulfilment status updates, error handling and logging.
  3. Day 5: Deployed to production. Tested against live data. Everything worked.

The Result

Slovenly’s store kept running without interruption. Their customers noticed nothing. Dozens of orders continued to be processed daily – exactly as before, with a new custom-built integration underneath.

The client was relieved. And frankly, so were we – not because it was hard, but because it mattered.

What This Means for Magento 1 Merchants

Magento 1 reached official end-of-life in 2020. Most development teams stopped supporting it.

But thousands of stores are still running on it – and still need things built, fixed, and integrated. When a third-party tool changes, when something breaks, when a deadline appears out of nowhere, those businesses need someone who actually knows the platform.

We’ve been working with Magento 1 since the beginning. We maintain complex codebases, build custom modules, and handle integrations that other teams won’t touch.
